AUSTIN VIEW · OUTBUILDING CHANGES · RELOCATING FENCE EQUIPMENT

Need an Electric Fence COC in Austin View?

Is the building that houses your Austin View fence equipment being altered or removed? Arrange the fence assessment before demolition or renovation starts. Wesslink can discuss relocating the equipment, necessary electric fence repairs and the final inspection for an electric fence COC on the completed arrangement.

Do not remove an energiser or disconnect its cables to clear a building for other work. Coordinate the fence work with the appropriate contractors before the equipment or its connections are disturbed.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Plan the route from the new equipment position to the fence.

Austin View is a separately named Midrand locality in Johannesburg’s planning records. Provide the actual property and building layout rather than a nearby suburb name alone. Where fence equipment is in a garage, workshop or other outbuilding, describe the proposed building changes and the fence sections it serves so the relocation can be assessed properly.

01

An old outbuilding is due to be demolished

Identify any fence equipment and visible connections before demolition is scheduled. Ask what must be relocated or made ready by the fence specialist. Give both contractors the agreed sequence so demolition does not proceed while each assumes the other has dealt with the installation.

02

The energiser will move closer to the main house

Explain why the move is proposed and show the intended location. Ask for the equipment requirements and connections to the existing fence to be assessed. A shorter walk to the controls is useful only if the new arrangement is appropriate for the installation and future maintenance.

03

Paving or excavation is planned along the route

Tell Wesslink about the proposed work and any known existing services. Ask the relevant contractors to coordinate the route and sequence before the ground is disturbed. Do not dig to find fence cables or use an old sketch as proof that no other services are present.

Keep the retained fence in the assessment.

Moving equipment does not explain the condition of the boundary it supplies. Provide the previous certificate, reported warnings and any repairs carried out since it was installed. Ask the assessment to consider the retained fence and the proposed relocation together, including defects that should be corrected before the installation is handed back for normal use.

For a replacement electric fence installation, request a quotation that identifies the equipment, relevant connections and fence work included. Obtain owner and applicable development approvals before alterations. Once the surrounding building work is finished, arrange the required checks and retain the new equipment-location information with the completed-work records.

INSPECTION & TESTING

What does an electric fence COC inspection cover?

A working energiser is one part of the system. The inspection also considers the fence installation, its safety provisions and the test results.

An electric fence certificate follows inspection and testing by a registered person. Defects affecting compliance must be corrected before certification. Read Regulations 12–13 ↗

ELECTRIC FENCE COC COSTS

Get a quote for the fence you actually have.

Give the existing and proposed equipment positions, the planned building work and the relevant fence records. Ask whether the quotation includes the full relocation, coordination with other contractors and completion checks. Agree how unexpected defects in retained components will be reported and authorised rather than assuming they are included in a simple moving price.

ELECTRIC FENCE COC · AUSTIN VIEW

Questions before you book.

Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.

Is your electric fence alarming since work started on an outbuilding?

Stop work that could disturb the affected equipment and report the exact warning to the responsible contractor. Electric fence fault finding can investigate the installation before further changes are made.

Can the existing energiser be reused in a new position?

Its condition, suitability and the proposed installation need assessment. Ask the quotation to explain what will be reused and any associated corrections required.

When can an electric fence compliance certificate be issued after the move?

The relevant completed installation must pass the required inspection and tests. Explain the building-work programme so the final visit can assess the finished arrangement.

Should the builder reconnect the old cables?

Arrange that work with the person responsible for the electric-fence installation. Do not treat reconnection as an incidental building task or attempt it yourself.

What information should be retained afterwards?

Keep the revised equipment location, completed-work details and any electric fence certificate of compliance issued. Record later changes so future contractors know which installation the documents describe.

Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?

A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.

Will the inspection fee include repairs?

Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
