ELECTRIC FENCE COC · CLAUDIUS
Questions before you book.
Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.
Is your electric fence alarming after being unused?+
Leave unfamiliar equipment for professional assessment and describe the alert to Wesslink. Electric fence fault finding can establish what needs attention. Do not keep resetting or reconnecting the system to see whether the problem disappears.
Does an old electric fence compliance certificate prove it works today?+
It is useful history, but it does not replace inspection of the current installation. Tell Wesslink about the period out of use and any changes or damage since the certificate was issued.
Must every component be replaced because the house stood empty?+
No such conclusion can be made from vacancy alone. The installation should be assessed so the recommendation distinguishes components that can remain from work actually needed.
Can I request a quote before I own the property?+
Yes, explain that it is a purchase enquiry and arrange the seller’s permission for access. Provide the existing documents and describe your intended use so any proposal can be assessed against the property you are buying.
Can the certificate be issued at the first visit?+
That depends on the condition and outcome of inspection and testing. An electric fence certificate of compliance cannot be promised before any defects and unfinished work have been assessed and resolved.
Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?+
A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.
Will the inspection fee include repairs?+
Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
