ELECTRIC FENCE COC · GARSFONTEIN
Questions before you book.
Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.
Does a fitted battery guarantee that the fence will work throughout an outage?+
No runtime can be inferred from its presence alone. Ask for assessment of the actual equipment and condition rather than relying on a generic product claim.
Should I buy a larger battery before the inspection?+
First have the problem and suitable equipment assessed. A larger battery is not automatically compatible or the correct answer to the reported symptom.
Can the fence be compliant if a power-related problem is reported?+
Give the inspector the full information. Certification must follow the required assessment of the installation; neither a symptom description nor a working display settles the result by itself.
Does GarsCom membership include certification of my private fence?+
The published community services do not establish that your installation has been inspected or certified. Locate the actual fence documents and confirm who maintains the private system.
Is your electric fence alarming when mains power goes off?+
Note the display message and when it appears during an ordinary power cut. Tell us about recent battery or backup-supply work. Leave testing to the installer; an alarm during an outage does not automatically mean the battery needs replacing.
Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?+
A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.
Will the inspection fee include repairs?+
Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
