Goudrand • Identify when the fence became part of the property

Need an Electric Fence COC in Goudrand?

Need an electric fence COC in Goudrand for an existing home, a later fence addition or work completed during a build? Wesslink can inspect the installation and explain any repairs needed. Tell us what was supplied with the property, what changed afterwards and whether there is a current fault to investigate.

A housing handover pack does not establish that fencing was included, completed or assessed. Check what the documents describe.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Keep the housing stage and fence stage separate

For a completed home, find out which fence work formed part of the handover. For a stand developed later, keep the subsequent installation and alteration records with the property file. If the home is managed rental accommodation, involve the landlord or manager. Those differences help identify the fence to inspect and the person who can approve repairs.

01

You received land before building

If fencing was commissioned after the stand handover, look for the later installer’s quotation, completion records and certificate. The original land or services pack may help identify the property but will not describe an installation that did not yet exist. Give the inspection team the current entrance and property reference.

02

You received a completed home

Review the included-work schedule before assuming the fence was part of the original contract. Ask the handover contact for any fence-specific documents and identify subsequent changes. If paperwork is missing, explain the gap rather than using an unrelated house certificate as evidence for the boundary.

03

You occupy managed rental housing

Ask the landlord or managing organisation who controls the perimeter and holds its records. A resident’s occupancy document may identify a unit without defining the shared fence. Report the concern through that responsible contact and agree the installation to be inspected before arranging private work.

Choose the inspection point around the actual work

If your boundary is still being built or altered, give Wesslink the planned sequence. A wall, gate opening and fence may be completed at different times. Identify which sections are finished, which are temporary and which still depend on another contractor. The assessment needs to relate to the intended completed installation, with any unfinished work or inaccessible section clearly recorded.

Build a simple timeline from documents you have: property handover, fence installation, later alteration and current inspection request. Approximate dates can be labelled as such. Keep the installation records with the property file so a later buyer or occupier can distinguish original works from additions. Where several parties were involved, ask each for the documents covering their work instead of assuming the housing provider retains everything.

INSPECTION & TESTING

What does an electric fence COC inspection cover?

A working energiser is one part of the system. The inspection also considers the fence installation, its safety provisions and the test results.

An electric fence certificate follows inspection and testing by a registered person. Defects affecting compliance must be corrected before certification. Read Regulations 12–13 ↗

    The energiser and fence circuit

Identify the equipment and the fence sections it supplies, including alterations and gate crossings.

  2. 02

    Earthing and physical condition

Inspect the earth system, wires, joints, brackets and insulators, together with the installation’s condition.

  3. 03

    Warning signs and accessible areas

Check the safety provisions around the fence, including signs and places where people can approach it.

  4. 04

    Testing, corrections and certification

Explain defects found, agree the repair work and complete the checks needed before certification.

ELECTRIC FENCE COC COSTS

Get a quote for the fence you actually have.

Describe the existing installation before requesting a certificate quotation. An inspection of a completed fence is different from pricing a new electric fence installation or finishing incomplete work. Identify the responsible client and any remaining building activity so the proposed scope and attendance timing are realistic. Quote electric fence repairs against the defects found, separately from unfinished building work.

ELECTRIC FENCE COC · GOUDRAND

Questions before you book.

Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.

Does a serviced-stand handover include fence certification?

Do not assume it does. Check the actual handover scope; a fence installed afterwards needs records for that later work.

What if I do not know who installed the fence?

State that in the enquiry and provide the documents you have. The current installation can be identified and assessed without inventing an installer or completion date.

Can inspection be arranged before the new entrance is finished?

Explain the outstanding work first. Wesslink can discuss suitable timing and what can be assessed, without treating a temporary layout as the completed boundary.

Does the City’s development announcement confirm my property is ready?

No. Programme statements describe plans or progress at a stated date. Your own handover records and the condition at your property determine the enquiry.

Is your electric fence alarming while boundary work is still underway?

Tell us which fence sections are finished, where work is continuing and when the alarm sounds. Wesslink can check the affected equipment through electric fence fault finding. For managed rental housing, ask the landlord or manager to approve the visit and arrange access.

Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?

A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.

Will the inspection fee include repairs?

Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
