Kloofendal - inspection, repairs and fence certificates

Need an Electric Fence COC in Kloofendal?

Need an electric fence COC in Kloofendal, repairs to damaged fittings or help with a fence that keeps alarming? Contact Wesslink to arrange an inspection of your home or business installation. Tell us what has changed and why you need the certificate so the assessment includes the current fault as well as the paperwork.

Keep clear of damaged wires and fittings. Describe the problem from a safe position; you do not need to touch the fence or trigger an alarm before asking for help.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Check the working fence as well as the documents.

A property sale, a new gate and a recurring alarm raise different questions for the inspection. Give Wesslink the fence route and any recent work. Kloofendal Nature Reserve is managed by Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo; involve the responsible land contact only if your particular inspection needs access from reserve land.

01

The fence keeps alarming

Give the alarm times, the message already displayed and the section involved if known. Mention recent gardening, gate work or repairs without assuming they caused the fault. Electric fence fault finding should establish which work is needed before another component is ordered.

02

A sale brings an older certificate to light

Send the certificate with any later repair invoices and describe changes to the fence or entrance. The inspector needs to compare the existing record with the installation now at the property. A document in the file does not show what was changed afterwards.

03

Part of the boundary is difficult to reach

Explain where the fence passes behind buildings, planting or adjoining land. Arrange access through the responsible owner or land manager. Do not clear against the wires, climb the fence or enter neighbouring land to prepare photographs.

Ask which repair will resolve the reported problem.

A loose support, a damaged insulator and an unfamiliar energiser warning can need different repairs. Give the electrician the symptoms you have already noticed and any earlier findings. Ask what the inspection found, which corrections are needed and whether other work on the wall or gate must happen first. Keep that explanation with the quotation so you can compare the same work if another contractor is involved.

If a fence section cannot be inspected, ask what access or further attendance is needed. Keep outstanding items clear before the certificate is considered complete. For a boundary beside the reserve, arrange the relevant access separately; a public visitor booking does not provide contractor permission. For an ordinary private boundary, use the property entrance and access arrangements agreed for that installation.

INSPECTION & TESTING

What does an electric fence COC inspection cover?

A working energiser is one part of the system. The inspection also considers the fence installation, its safety provisions and the test results.

An electric fence certificate follows inspection and testing by a registered person. Defects affecting compliance must be corrected before certification. Read Regulations 12–13 ↗

    The energiser and fence circuit

Identify the equipment and the fence sections it supplies, including alterations and gate crossings.

  2. 02

    Earthing and physical condition

Inspect the earth system, wires, joints, brackets and insulators, together with the installation’s condition.

  3. 03

    Warning signs and accessible areas

Check the safety provisions around the fence, including signs and places where people can approach it.

  4. 04

    Testing, corrections and certification

Explain defects found, agree the repair work and complete the checks needed before certification.

ELECTRIC FENCE COC COSTS

The scope may include additional coordination or a return visit when access is incomplete. Explain known limitations before requesting a fixed attendance plan, and keep any third-party clearance or boundary work distinct from the fence inspection and electric fence repairs.

Have these details ready

  • Mark the section concerned and identify any adjoining public or private land.
  • Confirm the route for permission where access extends beyond your property.
  • Describe vegetation or obstacles from a safe position without attempting fence work.
  • Collect the existing fence record and note any parts that could not previously be reached.

Review the message before opening WhatsApp. This does not confirm an appointment.

Questions before you book.

Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.

Can you investigate an alarm when I also need a fence COC?

Tell Wesslink about both when booking. Include the warning, its timing and any earlier repair notes so the fault finding and inspection can be quoted together.

Do I need a new energiser because the alarm keeps sounding?

The alarm alone does not identify the failed part. Ask for the fence and equipment to be assessed before selecting a replacement.

What if I cannot find the earlier certificate?

Say that when enquiring and send the records you have. Describe any known alterations without inventing dates or installer details; the present installation still needs assessment.

Does every Kloofendal visit need reserve permission?

No. That applies only where the actual work or access involves reserve land. Explain the affected boundary so the correct access can be arranged.

Can I clear plants from the wires before the visit?

Do not work against electric wires. Describe the obstruction and arrange safe clearance with the responsible property or land contact before the inspection route is used.

Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?

A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.

Will the inspection fee include repairs?

Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
