ELECTRIC FENCE COC · KNOPPIESLAAGTE
Questions before you book.
Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.
Is your electric fence alarming as you take occupation?+
Give Wesslink the alert details and explain whether the equipment was recently changed or handed over. Electric fence fault finding can investigate the existing installation; do not accept an untested explanation from the handover alone.
Should a tenant arrange the electric fence compliance certificate?+
Discuss the actual request with the landlord or park manager. Identify who is responsible for the installation and may commission its inspection before agreeing attendance or payment.
Can one unit’s inspection include the park perimeter?+
Only include shared equipment through the appropriate authorised instruction and access arrangements. Be explicit about the installation covered rather than assuming a unit booking extends to the whole park.
What if the previous occupier removed the energiser?+
Tell Wesslink before the visit and provide any equipment records available. Ask for the remaining installation to be assessed before buying a replacement or assuming the rest can be reused unchanged.
What belongs in the final handover file?+
Keep the agreed work description, completed repair records and any electric fence certificate of compliance issued after inspection and tests. Include the responsible maintenance contact so the next fault reaches the right person.
Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?+
A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.
Will the inspection fee include repairs?+
Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
