Start with a rough outline of the property and mark the energiser, gates, inaccessible stretches and any recently altered section. A photograph showing where one fence run meets another is often more useful than several close-ups of the same front wall. Include previous fence certificates and repair invoices if available; keep the original documents intact even when the current layout looks different.
If a landscaper, builder or gate contractor will be working near the boundary, explain the sequence before the certification visit. The final inspection should relate to the electric fence installation that will remain after the relevant work. Where a neighbour’s side, vegetation or stored materials prevent assessment, record the limitation and agree how it will be resolved. Do not describe an unexamined stretch as passed because the rest appears orderly.
