Parktown - assess the fence you have today

Need an Electric Fence COC in Parktown?

Need an electric fence COC in Parktown for a sale, an existing installation or work completed at the boundary? Wesslink can inspect the fence, explain defects and quote for repairs. Bring any earlier certificate and tell us about current alarms, damaged components or changes made since that document was issued.

Historical records explain the past; they do not establish today’s fence condition or scope.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Use the old records to inform a current inspection.

An older plan can help identify a former boundary, while a repair invoice may explain a later equipment change. Keep the dates and original documents available. The Parktown Association maintains historical planning material, but start with the owner or previous installer for fence records and have the present installation assessed.

01

The certificate describes equipment that has changed

Tell Wesslink what is different, such as an energiser replacement or a changed gate. Send the earlier certificate and the repair record together. The inspection must relate to the fence now installed, including retained sections and later additions.

02

A fault has returned after several repairs

List the warning and what each visit changed if those details are available. Do not fill gaps from memory or order another part solely because it was replaced before. Electric fence fault finding can establish the next repair from the present condition.

03

Boundary restoration is being planned

Show the proposed work to the fence contractor before fittings are concealed or moved. Identify any wall finish or structure that must be retained. Arrange applicable property approvals separately and ask how the electrical work will be completed around the agreed restoration.

Keep the repair decision clear when records are incomplete.

You can report a fence problem even when earlier paperwork is missing. Give the property address, the symptoms and what you know about alterations. Ask the electrician to explain the defects found, the proposed repairs and whether another trade must first attend to the supporting structure. If the inspection cannot cover a section, keep that limitation and the next access step in the work record.

After corrections, retain the work description and inspection documents with the property file. Keep older certificates and plans intact so the next owner can follow the changes. A historical drawing can support that record, but it does not replace inspection and testing of the current fence. If optional improvements are proposed, distinguish them from the work needed to address the reported defects.

INSPECTION & TESTING

What does an electric fence COC inspection cover?

A working energiser is one part of the system. The inspection also considers the fence installation, its safety provisions and the test results.

An electric fence certificate follows inspection and testing by a registered person. Defects affecting compliance must be corrected before certification. Read Regulations 12–13 ↗

  2. 02

    Earthing and physical condition

Inspect the earth system, wires, joints, brackets and insulators, together with the installation’s condition.

  3. 03

    Warning signs and accessible areas

Check the safety provisions around the fence, including signs and places where people can approach it.

  4. 04

    Testing, corrections and certification

Explain defects found, agree the repair work and complete the checks needed before certification.

Document retrieval and fence assessment solve different problems. Explain what is missing and whether you need an inspection, remedial quotation or transaction file. Finding an old record does not establish the current installation's condition.

Questions before you book.

Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.

Can you inspect a fence if the previous certificate is missing?

Tell Wesslink what records you have and why the certificate is needed. The present installation can be identified and assessed without reconstructing an unsupported history.

Does a replacement energiser settle the condition of the whole fence?

No. The wires, connections, fittings and other relevant parts still need assessment. Keep the replacement invoice available and explain any problem that remains.

Will the Parktown archive have my fence certificate?

Its published archive concerns association and historical planning material. Ask the owner, managing contact or previous installer for the private installation records first.

Does a Parktown address automatically require heritage approval?

No property status is assumed here. Establish any restrictions that apply to the specific wall or structure before proposed alterations are made.

What should I send when the fence keeps alarming?

Send the alarm message and times already observed, the affected area if known and previous repair notes. Keep clear of the wires rather than trying to reproduce the fault.

Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?

A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.

Will the inspection fee include repairs?

Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
