ELECTRIC FENCE COC · ROOIHUISKRAAL
Questions before you book.
Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.
Is your electric fence alarming on the section you want to extend?+
Report the current symptom before the extension is agreed. Electric fence fault finding can establish what needs correction so the new work is not built around an unresolved problem.
Can an existing palisade simply be connected to an energiser?+
Have the proposed installation assessed and designed appropriately. Do not improvise connections to an existing barrier; the fence arrangement and equipment need professional consideration.
Will the installation quotation include an electric fence compliance certificate?+
Ask for certification to be stated in the agreed work. The completed installation must pass the required inspection and tests before a certificate can be issued.
Can part of the existing fence be kept?+
Ask for the retained components and their connections to be assessed. The quotation should explain what is being reused, what needs correction and how the completed installation will be checked.
What documents should I keep after electrifying the boundary?+
Retain the approved work description, equipment information and any electric fence certificate of compliance issued. Keep details of the retained sections as well as newly installed components.
Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?+
A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.
Will the inspection fee include repairs?+
Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
