ELECTRIC FENCE COC · SELWYN
Questions before you book.
Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.
Can an electric fence compliance certificate be checked against the current installation?+
Explain the document concern when booking. The relevant details and installation need assessment; ask the original issuer to clarify their record where possible, without assuming paperwork alone settles present condition.
What if the electric fence certificate of compliance seems to belong to another property?+
Keep the document intact and raise the discrepancy with the responsible owner or issuer. Provide your correct property details when arranging an inspection. Do not reuse another installation’s paperwork.
Is your electric fence alarming while you are looking for its records?+
Report the warning and arrange technical assessment. Missing papers should not delay raising the actual fault, and you should not open equipment or adjust it while trying to identify the installation.
Can I still request an inspection if the previous owner left no fence papers?+
Yes. Explain what is known and what is missing. Provide access through the responsible owner so the current installation can be assessed, with any necessary repairs and further inspection made clear.
Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?+
A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.
Will the inspection fee include repairs?+
Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
