REQUIRED CORRECTIONS · OPTIONAL UPGRADES · PROPERTY RULES

Need an Electric Fence COC in Waterkloof?

An Electric Fence COC enquiry in Waterkloof can uncover two different requests: correcting the existing installation and improving the property's security. Tell Wesslink which outcome you need. The quotation should explain any work required by the inspection separately from optional changes you are considering.

A proposed security improvement is not automatically a defect, and a certificate does not promise that a property cannot be entered.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Choose the right scope before approving a fence upgrade.

Waterkloof includes different security arrangements. SafeWaterkloof describes a community access-control initiative, while Waterkloof Village publishes its own estate rules. Those arrangements are not interchangeable. Identify your property and any applicable scheme before assuming a private fence addition is permitted or necessary.

01

You have been offered a larger replacement system

Ask which findings justify replacement and which features are optional. An inspection should identify the relevant condition of the installation. A preference for a newer model or additional features should be explained as a separate proposal, with its purpose and scope clear before you approve it.

02

Considering electric fence installation in a managed development?

Check that development's rules first. For example, Waterkloof Village's published house rules prohibit members' electric fences inside its boundary and address the managed perimeter separately. That is a rule for that specific development, not a prohibition covering every Waterkloof property.

03

The main concern is appearance

Explain whether you want painting, wall repairs, different brackets or a changed route. Cosmetic and structural work can affect the fence, so agree the sequence before contractors begin. Do not assume that matching an approved colour or improving the wall's finish establishes the electrical condition.

Ask for a quotation you can make a decision on.

A useful proposal separates the inspection findings, the corrections linked to those findings and any requested improvements. It should identify the affected installation and leave uncertainties visible. Where a proposed alteration needs permission from the relevant scheme or another property owner, resolve that issue before treating the technical recommendation as authority to proceed.

After authorised work, retain the report, invoice and relevant certificate together. If you decline an optional improvement, the record should not imply that it was a failed requirement. Equally, an unresolved defect should not disappear into a general description such as 'security upgrade deferred'. Clear wording helps the owner, installer and eventual buyer understand what was actually completed.

INSPECTION & TESTING

What does an electric fence COC inspection cover?

A working energiser is one part of the system. The inspection also considers the fence installation, its safety provisions and the test results.

An electric fence certificate follows inspection and testing by a registered person. Defects affecting compliance must be corrected before certification. Read Regulations 12–13 ↗

  3. 03

    Warning signs and accessible areas

Check the safety provisions around the fence, including signs and places where people can approach it.

  4. 04

    Testing, corrections and certification

Explain defects found, agree the repair work and complete the checks needed before certification.

ELECTRIC FENCE COC · WATERKLOOF

Questions before you book.

Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.

Must I accept every suggested upgrade to obtain a fence certificate?

Ask the installer to distinguish required corrections from optional improvements and explain the assessment findings. Certification depends on the applicable requirements and the installation, not on buying every proposed extra.

Can a Waterkloof Village owner install a separate private electric fence?

The Village's published rules prohibit members' electric fences inside the development boundary. Confirm the current position with its management before arranging any private addition; do not apply that rule to unrelated Waterkloof properties.

Will community access control replace my property's fence assessment?

A neighbourhood security arrangement does not identify the condition or records of a particular private installation. Establish what equipment is actually present and what the certificate request concerns.

Does a new energiser automatically make an old fence compliant?

No conclusion should be based on that replacement alone. The relevant installation must be assessed, including any required corrections beyond the new component.

Is your electric fence alarming despite a recent upgrade?

Send the alarm history and details of the recent upgrade. Ask for electric fence fault finding before committing to another optional improvement. A new energiser or a neater wall does not by itself explain why the fence keeps alarming.

Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?

A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.

Will the inspection fee include repairs?

Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
