BOUNDARY MAINTENANCE · SAFE WORK COORDINATION · CLEAR FAULT REPORTS

Need an Electric Fence COC in Bramley Gardens?

Grass cutting, wall painting and other boundary work can put people close to an electric fence. If you are arranging that work in Bramley Gardens, include the fence in the preparation. Wesslink can assess the installation, investigate reported faults and explain what is required for an electric fence COC.

Tell gardeners, painters and other contractors where the fence runs. Do not ask them to move wires, clear contact with live equipment or improvise isolation.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Keep public maintenance and private fence work clearly organised.

Grass cutting, weed removal and drainage maintenance have featured in Bramley Gardens’ municipal service work. For work at your own boundary, plan how gardeners, painters or builders will work safely near any electric fence. Tell the fence contractor what is changing and arrange the required coordination before tools, ladders or clearing work reach the wires.

01

Before a garden or wall contractor starts

Explain where work is planned and whether vegetation, ladders, paint equipment or rubble removal will bring people near the fence. Arrange the necessary fence-related attendance before that work begins. Photographs from a safe distance can help describe the site, but nobody should reach across the wires to produce a clearer picture or measure a gap.

02

A problem noticed after outside work

Record what changed and when you first noticed the symptom. If plants were cut, a wall repaired or paving disturbed, provide those details without assuming the contractor caused the fault. Electric fence fault finding can assess the current installation and any affected route; a sequence of events is useful information, not a completed diagnosis.

03

An exposed wire near the pavement

Keep clear and identify whether the concern appears to involve your private fence or public electrical equipment. The City’s service campaign also mentioned streetlight wiring, which is a separate responsibility. Report an immediate hazard to the appropriate responsible service and do not handle it. Wesslink’s private-fence inspection does not authorise work on municipal equipment.

Plan the fence work before the boundary is finished.

If a wall repair or other project changes the mounting surface, discuss the electric fence installation before the final finish is applied. The installer needs to assess the arrangement, the condition of existing components and any necessary changes. A fresh coat of paint or a tidy verge should not conceal an unresolved fence issue or prevent access to a section that still needs inspection.

For an electric fence compliance certificate, make earlier records and the known work history available. Explain whether you need an assessment of the complete installation or help with a particular symptom. Where another owner or manager controls part of the boundary, arrange their approval and access for proposed electric fence repairs. The findings should identify what was checked and any outstanding work.

INSPECTION & TESTING

What does an electric fence COC inspection cover?

A working energiser is one part of the system. The inspection also considers the fence installation, its safety provisions and the test results.

An electric fence certificate follows inspection and testing by a registered person. Defects affecting compliance must be corrected before certification. Read Regulations 12–13 ↗

    The energiser and fence circuit

Identify the equipment and the fence sections it supplies, including alterations and gate crossings.

  2. 02

    Earthing and physical condition

Inspect the earth system, wires, joints, brackets and insulators, together with the installation’s condition.

  3. 03

    Warning signs and accessible areas

Check the safety provisions around the fence, including signs and places where people can approach it.

  4. 04

    Testing, corrections and certification

Explain defects found, agree the repair work and complete the checks needed before certification.

ELECTRIC FENCE COC COSTS

Get a quote for the fence you actually have.

A quotation is easier to understand when fence attendance, boundary maintenance and making good are described separately. Tell us which other trades are involved and when their work is planned. Ask what inspection and corrective work are included, and confirm responsibility for any building or landscaping work before approving the job.

ELECTRIC FENCE COC · BRAMLEY GARDENS

Questions before you book.

Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.

Can a painter or gardener check the fence while working nearby?

Do not assume that general maintenance includes electrical assessment. Arrange competent fence work separately and make sure everyone understands the planned work area before starting.

Is your electric fence alarming after the garden was cleared?

Note the alarm time and what work occurred. Avoid touching wires or cutting more vegetation near them to try to stop it. Assessment should establish the cause before parts or further work are prescribed.

Can you provide an electric fence certificate of compliance after wall repairs?

The resulting installation can be assessed. Tell us what was moved or replaced and provide earlier records. Any necessary corrections must be addressed before certification; completed building work alone is not evidence that the fence passes.

Should the inspection happen before or after boundary maintenance?

Explain the work being planned before it starts. Fence-related preparation may be needed first, with a further assessment after anything affecting the installation has changed. Agree that sequence with the contractors instead of leaving it to the day.

Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?

A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.

Will the inspection fee include repairs?

Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
