ALARM MESSAGES · CHANGED CONTACTS · PHYSICAL FENCE ASSESSMENT

Need an Electric Fence COC in Kelvin?

Are fence messages reaching the wrong person, or has an alarm stopped reporting after a change? Wesslink can assess the private fence installation in Kelvin, investigate relevant symptoms and explain repairs. If an electric fence COC is needed, provide the existing records and identify any changes to the equipment or its alarm connection.

Keep alarm credentials private. Do not bypass the fence alarm or deliberately create a fault to find out who receives a notification.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Identify the device and the message before arranging the work.

Kelvin appears in Sandton CPF’s community activities and patrol information. For a private fence concern, identify the notification from your own equipment and the person or provider appointed for it. A community message, phone-app alert and energiser display may report different things; give the attending contractor the actual observation rather than combining them into one assumed fault.

01

The household contact details changed

Tell the appointed service provider about the contact change through its authorised process. For the fence assessment, explain whether any equipment or connection was also altered. A new phone number may affect who receives messages, but it does not establish the physical condition of the electric fence installation or prove that no other work is needed.

02

An alarm appears on one device only

Record the exact message and which device displayed it during ordinary use. Avoid guessing that the phone, energiser or house alarm must be the faulty part. Electric fence fault finding should consider the relevant equipment and connections, with any separate provider coordination arranged by the responsible property contact.

03

The property is being handed to a new owner

Pass on the relevant fence certificate and maintenance history, while transferring service accounts and access credentials through the appropriate channels. Identify any unresolved alarm issue before handover. A new owner should not inherit unexplained notifications to a former occupant or assume that a monitoring subscription confirms the condition of the installation.

Keep communication checks and installation checks clear.

For an electric fence compliance certificate assessment, describe the fence itself and provide records of later alterations. Alarm reporting can be relevant to the installation, but a received notification is not a complete condition assessment. Likewise, an app that appears quiet does not establish that the fence passes the required checks or that reporting has been configured correctly.

Electric fence repairs should explain what was corrected and whether any separately managed connection needs follow-up. Agree coordination with the actual appointed provider rather than assuming a patrol or community contact monitors the private system. Where equipment is shared, management should approve changes and arrange access. Retain the final work description alongside the relevant fence documents.

INSPECTION & TESTING

What does an electric fence COC inspection cover?

A working energiser is one part of the system. The inspection also considers the fence installation, its safety provisions and the test results.

An electric fence certificate follows inspection and testing by a registered person. Defects affecting compliance must be corrected before certification. Read Regulations 12–13 ↗

ELECTRIC FENCE COC COSTS

Get a quote for the fence you actually have.

Provide the device message, dates of contact or equipment changes and earlier work records when asking for a quote. Ask whether the attendance covers fence investigation, identified repairs or another service connection. This avoids paying for an unexplained component replacement when the reported problem has not yet been properly identified.

Questions before you book.

Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.

Does a phone alert prove that the electric fence certificate of compliance is current?

No. A notification and an inspection document provide different information. Supply the actual fence records and describe subsequent changes so the installation can be assessed appropriately.

Is your electric fence alarming but no message reaches your phone?

Report both observations without creating another fault. Identify the provider or person responsible for the connection so the relevant coordination can be arranged during assessment.

Can you change my monitoring account details?

Account changes should follow the appointed provider’s authorised process. Tell us whether related equipment work is needed so responsibilities can be agreed without sharing credentials unnecessarily.

Should I disconnect an old alarm connection before a sale?

Do not alter unfamiliar equipment yourself. Describe the intended handover and have any necessary work assessed and approved, with clear records of what was changed.

Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?

A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.

Will the inspection fee include repairs?

Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
