DAMAGED BOUNDARIES · BUILDING AND FENCE WORK · COMPLETE RESTORATION

Need an Electric Fence COC in Melrose?

Has a wall or gate been damaged where your Melrose electric fence is fitted? Keep people clear and arrange assessment of both the supporting structure and the fence. Wesslink can inspect the electrical installation, explain repairs and help with an electric fence COC once the relevant requirements are met. Tell us what has already been made safe or repaired.

A damaged supporting wall needs appropriate building assessment. Do not pull fence wires off unstable masonry or ask someone to hold equipment in place.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Plan the fence restoration with the wall or gate repair.

Melrose and Melrose Estate share residents-association information and local heritage-planning context, while Melrose Arch has separate precinct arrangements. For your property, identify the damaged structure and the proposed building work. If an older boundary will be altered rather than simply restored, obtain the relevant property advice and approval alongside the fence assessment.

01

Part of the wall is unstable

Keep the area clear and report what is visible safely. The building contractor needs to address structural concerns, while the fence contractor assesses affected electrical equipment. Neither task should be reduced to simply straightening wires before the supporting structure and safe access are ready for the proposed work.

02

The repaired wall will have a different shape

Give the fence contractor the intended height, gate position or other relevant design information from the builder. An electric fence installation should be considered against that finished arrangement. Do not assume retained wires and supports can be fitted back unchanged merely because they were present before the wall was rebuilt.

03

A temporary repair remains in use

Keep the initial work description and explain what still needs finishing. Electric fence repairs completed during the first attendance may have addressed only the immediate condition. Ask the final assessment to consider the resulting installation and outstanding items so temporary work is not quietly treated as the permanent completed system.

Keep the final inspection linked to the finished repair.

For an electric fence compliance certificate, provide the earlier document and records of the wall, gate and fence work. Explain whether any equipment was removed, re-used or replaced. If parts of the building project remain incomplete, agree how that affects access and assessment rather than booking the certificate visit on the assumption that the fence will be ready.

Electric fence fault finding may be needed if symptoms remain after the visible boundary repair. Give the current alarm observation and the completed-work history without assigning a cause from the sequence alone. Obtain applicable owner or management approval for shared equipment and retain the final findings with the repair records, including any remaining section that needs further attention.

INSPECTION & TESTING

What does an electric fence COC inspection cover?

A working energiser is one part of the system. The inspection also considers the fence installation, its safety provisions and the test results.

An electric fence certificate follows inspection and testing by a registered person. Defects affecting compliance must be corrected before certification. Read Regulations 12–13 ↗

    The energiser and fence circuit

Identify the equipment and the fence sections it supplies, including alterations and gate crossings.

  2. 02

    Earthing and physical condition

Inspect the earth system, wires, joints, brackets and insulators, together with the installation’s condition.

  3. 03

    Warning signs and accessible areas

Check the safety provisions around the fence, including signs and places where people can approach it.

  4. 04

    Testing, corrections and certification

Explain defects found, agree the repair work and complete the checks needed before certification.

ELECTRIC FENCE COC COSTS

Get a quote for the fence you actually have.

Ask for structural restoration, fence work and making good to have clearly identified responsibilities. Provide the proposed finished wall or gate arrangement so the quotations describe the same outcome. A wire-repair price and a complete boundary-restoration price are different jobs and should be compared only after their included work is understood.

ELECTRIC FENCE COC · MELROSE

Questions before you book.

Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.

When can the electric fence certificate of compliance assessment follow wall repairs?

Explain the project sequence and what is ready. The resulting installation needs the appropriate inspection and checks, with any necessary corrective work completed rather than relying only on the builder’s completion date.

Is your electric fence alarming after a wall was rebuilt?

Record the message and provide the work descriptions. Assessment should establish the remaining issue; do not move wires or brackets to see whether the alarm changes.

Can the original fence components be reused?

Their condition and suitability for the finished arrangement need assessment. Do not decide solely from appearance or assume that every retained item either passes or needs replacement.

Who should coordinate the return visits?

Nominate the owner, manager or project contact who knows the building and fence schedules. Agree what must be ready for each attendance and keep unresolved work visible until it is addressed.

Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?

A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.

Will the inspection fee include repairs?

Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
