ELECTRIC FENCE COC · SANDOWN
Questions before you book.
Practical answers for owners, sellers and property managers.
Is your electric fence alarming when the gate moves?+
Record the message and circumstances without repeating the movement as a test. Arrange assessment and provide details of recent gate or fence work; the timing alone does not prove the cause.
Should I book a gate technician or a fence inspection?+
Explain both symptoms when making contact. The appropriate attendance depends on the equipment affected, and the relevant contractors may need to coordinate rather than one guessing about the other’s installation.
Can I request an electric fence certificate of compliance at the same time?+
Yes, state that requirement and provide the installation records. The necessary inspection and any corrections must be included in the agreed work.
What information helps after several unsuccessful visits?+
Keep the dates, actual findings, work completed and symptom after each visit. This is more useful than a list of replaced parts with no explanation of the fault they were intended to address.
Who can issue an electric fence certificate of compliance?+
A registered electric fence system installer may issue an electric fence compliance certificate after the required inspection and testing. An ordinary electrical COC is a separate document.
Will the inspection fee include repairs?+
Ask for the inspection, any repairs and any return visit to be itemised in the quote. The work required depends on what is found; a price should not assume that the fence will pass before it has been inspected.
